Air compressor is an important component of fuel cell cathode gas supply system. By pressurizing the air into the reactor, the power density and efficiency of fuel cell can be improved, and the size of fuel cell system can be reduced. However, the power consumption of air compressor is very large, accounting for about 80% of the auxiliary power consumption of battery. Its performance directly affects the efficiency, compactness and water balance characteristics of fuel cell.

The air compressor controller needs to calculate and control the pressure and flow of clean air for fuel cell according to the output power of the stack, which has a great influence on the performance of fuel cell system (energy density, system efficiency, water balance and heat loss), cost and size of the stack, so the reasonable design of air compressor controller is very important.
